well i had a fishing derby today with all the guys i work with and took my 650 with me.well when i get there i started it up backed off trailer and was letting it idle to warm up.while i was getting my heavy clothes on it quit!!!! i tried to start it wouldnt, just kept cranking. i had gas ,gas was on .well here comes the worst part i am sitting there and alot of the guys are coming and going saying should have bought a honda. or do you want me to tow you on ice.i wasnt very happy.then my buddy comes up with his 700 and rubs a little.they all kept asking ," what is that big bad prairie doing scared to go on ice?"well we pulled front spark plug it was all black and wet. we couldnt get to back plug. when i bought the thing i asked salesman about buying spare plugs and belt to have ,he told me you cant change them in the feild.so had to push it back on trailer and ride out on ice with my buddy who has big bear.do you think it could be choke cables? the mechanic said he rerouted them at first service and they worked fine now.that was 225 miles ago.well i am the only one with kawi at my work.most all are polaris and hondas .when i get back to work they said threy wont let me forget that it died. well sorry this is so long just really ticked me off today this was first time alot of them saw the prairie. big impression huh.thanks going to dealer monday.

I have an old three wheeler - Kawasaki klt200 which has a similar design in that the gas tank is located in the rear and it has a fuel pump. In the winter, I would have to run gasline antifreeze(not sure if it is good for small engines though) because the filter and pump would always freeze. I never had a problem with my 650 or any other vechicles. But because the gas line is so long and the pump and filter are out in the open, it would just freeze up on the trike. I see that you are in Watertown and I bet it gets pretty cold up there. Maybe that's what happened? It does sound like you are running rich, but I would dought that both plugs would foul at the same time. I would check to make sure you are getting fuel delivery to the carbs.

we pulled front plug and we could smell gas.so i think i am getting gas through.my dealer says there is no recall on choke cables. he keeps saying there is nothing wrong with the cables. might have to find new dealer.

SORRY OT HEAR THAT BUDDY! i can only emagine what it was like to tell evertyone how bad the new ride was, just waiting to show them what it could do, only to have it not run. it can happen to any of us, and i am sure sooner or later, it will happen to all of us. hope the problem is a real minor one, and that is runs for you again, real soon! it is one hell of a quad, and sooner or later, they all will see that!

Hey bigddoney,,
My 650 wouldn't start one day out here and nearly drove me nuts!!I hope your problem is as simple as mine was. There is a spot on my key switch where it is on but not quite ALL the way on .Everything works except spark.I have lights, engine turns over and all that, it just won't fire up.Did you try fiddling with the keyswitch any?????

My 650 wouldn't start today. Started it in the truck and backed it down the ramp out of the truck. Parked it and was gathering up some things and it died and wouldn't start. Examined the plugs and they looked fouled. Replaced the plugs and it ran fine. I've heard some of you talk about a recall on the choke cable my dealer has no info on this does anyone have any exact information on this. No other reason my plugs would have fouled this early. I only have 23 hours on it now.
