300EX compared to TrailBlazer 250
#1
I ride a 1994 300EX in wooded trail conditions mostly and a friend of mine has just got himself a 2000 Polaris TrailBlazer 250 to ride with me. I want to know how the two quads compare in top speed, speed into and out of corners, handling in general and basically if I'm gonna be able to justify my manual shifting 4-stroke at the end of the day. Any insight?

Hawk, I'm not trying to be a smart-alec, but trying to understand your post.
I understand you have a 300EX, your buddy has a TB250; and you ride together. I wonder why you ask readers to tell you how the two machines compare?
Since you have access to the two machines and the opportunity to ride and observe them together, I would expect you to inform us of their relative performance from your own direct experience, more valid evidence than anything someone might post, I would think.
I guess I'd ask you to tell us how the two machines perform.

You are right Tree Farmer. I didn't clarify myself. My friend has just gotten his TB 250 and here in Michigan it is snowmobile season. We won't be riding together until April and that is why I'm looking to others now for what kind of comparison I can expect.
Certainly it is my responsibility to the forum later this summer to report my own findings first hand and I plan to do so.
Further, I have heard that the TrailBlazer being heavier and having a smaller 2-stroke does not have the accelleration to stay with the 300EX.
Thanks in advance,

I think that the 300ex being around a 100 pounds lighter and the fact that the 250 trailblazer is quite a tame two stroke means you will not only blow him away throughout the powerband, but have a lot more fun doing wheelies around your friend. I have put substantial riding in on both machines. Over 60 miles on the trailblazer and many more on a 300 ex. I hope you have fun blowin your friend away!

Yes the 300Ex is faster. One big problem with the TB is when stock it has (for beginning riders I assume) a very low engagement spring. It makes it real dog the first 25 ft or so. Plus the top end only mid to high 40's. If he were to spend just $300 on mods with the RCR kit & the higher engagement spring it makes a world of difference. Both are great trail quads, but stock the 300EX will outrun a TB from start to finish.

i am going to get a trailblazer soon and i wish everone would stop saying that it is a good beginner bike i would not let my kid ride it after i test rode one that thing flat out gets it. just because you don,t have to shift gears does not mean that the trailblazer is a biginner bike and it tops out at 52 or 53 mph and that is plenty fast enough for anyone. as for the size i like a bigger bike. and stop comparing 300s to 250s. the bigger motor is going to be faster common sense will tell you that. you don't compare a 454 chevy to a 350 chevy do you. if you want to compare stay in the same cc's range.
