blaster man,250r close to the power of a 400ex?C,mon man I've seen them race-not even close!the R will spank the 400 like the 400 spanks a 300ex.It's the truth dude I seen it with my own eyes.If you were talking horse power there closer with a 400 @around 28 and a 250R @32-35 Thats both machines stock, but it sure don't even seem that close when there racing...

i know the trailblazer is2-stroke and the ex is 4-stroke. but i dought the tb puts out enough power to justify comparing it to a 300 4-stroke

KWS....88blaster is correct here. You are comparing apples to oranges by simply comparing cc's or auto/manual. The key here is to qualify the comparison by acknowledging that one is a 2-stroke and the other a 4-stroke. The purpose of my thread here was to find out how the two bikes would compare so I know what I am in for. The fact that this thread resides in the "Honda" section tells you that we're gonna get some biased responses with digs at anything not a Honda. If you are self-conscious and need to defend criticism of the TB 250, there are plenty of threads I've seen that get out of hand quickly with trash talk comparing bike to bike. That's not what I'm looking for here. You obviously have no info to share with me since you don't own either bike and have not even included any findings that you can reference to anyone else other than maybe a brochure you picked up at the Polaris dealer. Please respect the purpose of this forum, which is a tool for education. Go to the Polaris section if you need your ego massaged.

Listen and you will learn.

P.s. Thanks to the others who have provided great insight...as always.

i just thought i would share my experiences with you. my brother has a 99' tb and my sis has a 00' tb. i have an 87' 250X. my brother and i raced and i killed him by the time i hit 3rd and wound it out i was 1/2 foot ahead. i just put a fmf magamax II pipe and silencer and he put clutch springs and weights on his tb. the moral of the story is that i took him stock vs. stock and mod vs. mod. so your 300ex will surely be able to beat his tb. the top speed on a tb is 45. my 250x top speed stock is 50. 250x with pipe now hits 55 on a really good day. thanks

hillside- i know that the ex will beat the trailblazer and i know the differnces in 2-stroke and 4-stroke my best friend is a motorcycle and atv mec. also races a suzuki rmx250. and i owned a kdx200 dirtbike. you ought to know that the 300ex will beat the trailblazer because polaris does not make the fastest machine in there classes and they sure arn't the lightest except for the 400. i'm not trying to start a fight or anything like that. but you ought to know that the honda will be faster and probly better than the tb.

I have compared the two head to head, but it was an older trailblazer, with out the concentric drive. In order for him to even come close to beating you he will have to put on a pipe, and that might not do it! Polaris is marketing the trailblazer as a begginer sport quad like the blaster. His suspention geometry is not nearly as good as your's because his a-arms are level to the ground where you have the front of your a-arm higher than the rear. This soaks up bumps better, and the double a-arms work better on the corners than the struts. If you are fast at shifting, and not afraid to open it up you will out drag him. If you want to realy kick his a$$ you can race him in the snow, the tb realy sucks in snow, Polaris widened the front end so it can't follow other quads tracks through the snow, and the machine downshifts and can only hit 25 when riden wide open. The 300 would kick his a$$ big time, I'm not talking about a few quad lengths I'm talking about a football feild after 1/2 mile!

Yes the trailblaser is a beginner bike to ride but you need to be a pro or macanic or something to fix the darn things GO WITH THE 300EX the 2 bike don't even compare all that polaris does is make expensive belt drive plastic snomobile engine FOR BEGGINERS

I didn't know my engine was plastic... Learn something new everyday I guess.

While I would say a Trailblazer & Trailboss are good beginners bikes I wouldn't say all Polaris quads are just because of their belt drive. I would put a novice on a 300EX anyday (which is tame by comparison) before I would put them on a 500+lb machine (Scrambler)that is about as fast as a 400EX.

Man that was totally un-called for. Yes both those machines in my opinon are for beginners, but every Polaris, get you head out of the sand.

I'm with you superduty.

Andrew, you've got a lot of good to share as you did earlier in this thread. An unbiased Polaris owner daring to enter the Red Honda site. I applaud you. Although DG300EX is a fellow red-riding brethren, I think he is looking for one of those threads to banter and bash manufacturers and not really provide insight on this matter.

Thank you all for your comments, but I don't think any further piling on is necessary until I ride with my TB250-owning friend this summer. Don't worry, I'll come flying back in here with my own first-hand experience to share with you all.
