'02 Foreman 450s 4wd light Flashing - Help?
#1
The 4wd light on my Foreman with flash every now and then when I select 4wd from 2wd, or when I select 2wd from 4wd. It will flash 4 times, then pause, then repeat the flash 4 times. Anyone have a service manual and can tell me what this means> thanks! ps. If I turn the wheeler completely off, it seems to reset itself.

Brother,I feel you're pain,I as well have a 2002 Foreman S with the same symptoms that you describe.Unfortunately, I purchased mine in Canada and local dealerships refuse to do any warranty service work.I do have access to the Honda service manual and plan on trouble shooting it tomorrow.I wonder if this is a recurring problem? It doe's seem to malfunction after water/snow crossings,I'll check connectors first. If I can fix it I'll post my findings later.

According to the Honda service manual ( If you'r 4WD indicator flashes 4 times)it indicates a system voltage problem. The probable faulty part is the charging system itself or the FCC unit(final clutch control). The proceedures to troubleshoot this problem are listed below.
1-Make sure the battery is fully charged.
2-Check engine idle speed.
3-Check the connections of the FCC unit, fuse box, battery and related circuit. With the key "OFF".
4-Turn the ignition "ON" and check the number of times the 4WD indicator blinks after 30 seconds,if no blinks then a temporary failure is indicated. If it blinks 4 times go to #5
5-Turn the ignition switch "OFF",disconnect the FCC unit connector. With the ignition switch "ON" measure the voltage between the Red/White and Green connector terminals of the wire harness side.If the indication is normal Replace the FCC unit.If the indication is abnormal check for a short or open circuit between you'r battery and the FCC unit.If the related wire is OK,check the charging system.
I hope this helps you out,let me know?
