they claim to double the horsepower for $675 with a 38mm carb

they claim a 12 horsepower gain with just their pipe and clutch work

does anyone here have any experience with LRD and their polaris pipes

are their claims close to what you get

I would appreciate any info, I did a search and found only 2 post pretaining to this subject but none gave the info needed

I'd be very careful of claims like that. I'm assuming that you mean the 400 two stroke engine. To double the horsepower it would take 72 horsepower. For that, you would need a ported cylinder, higher compression head (14:1 running at least 104 octane), a pipe, silencer, carb, reeds, airbox mods. It could be done I suppose, but what about clutching? I'd have to see some dyno charts too.

 

Just ask LRD one question...
What rpm does there kit or pipe make peak h.p. at?
If they can't answer it; don't buy it. I know; i've asked...

That's all that I've scene. I havn't talked to them yet. Just wanting to know their history a little, Their numbers seem fishy.

O.K., been there, seen it. Now what about the secondary clutch? Or don't they offer mods for it. They don't even offer different springs for the primary, just weights. Like I've said a thousand times, all the horsepower in the world won't do you a bit of good if it doesn't get to the ground.

Also, I can't believe they are still using the 38mm TMX. The 39mm PWK does a much better job of mixing fuel and air. The airbox is nice though, something like what I have on my Sport. Only the filter is turned around.

 

Yeah, I saw that they were using the 38mm carb and the claim of 12 horse power from their pipe when the best I've ever scene is a 9 hp gain. Like I said, a little fishy, but you never know unless you ask,

One more question,

FTR has a nice pipe that allowed you to remove the heat shield. Since they've gone under, does anyone else make a pipe like that

HPD's race pipe is almost identical to the FTR pipe for what you want (removal of the heat shield).

"Cavet Emptor" as far as pipes are concerned. Some unscrupulous cads actually measure the peak horsepower from their pipes from the same spot on the stock pipe. The stock pipe signs off after about 5800 RPMs. If one of their pipes made 12 more horsepower than stock, at say 6500 rpm, then that added 12 horsepower would only give you 42 horsepower because the stock pipe at 6500 is only making 30 horsepower. HPD, RCR and Aaen measure from the peak power of one pipe to the next. If the stock pipe is making 36 horsepower then their pipe will add on 9 extra horsepower, but at a different RPM than the stock pipe.
