Well, what tires you get is going to depend on what kinda riding you do..
I have been looking at a plethora of tires.. Off the top of my head the list goes like this..
Maxxis Razrs
Maxxis All Traks
Pure Sport Bandits
Kenda Bearclaws
ITP Holeshots
Titan TrailClaw II
Titan Fast Trekkers
I mainly ride trails... I tend to stay away from mud.. Mudding isn't my thing, but occasionaly I have to hit some, nothing too bad, so a mud tire isn't for me.. I do however cross a creek just about everytime I ride, which has pea-gravel, etc in the creek beds which can be dug into just like sand.. There is also some sand around the creeks.. Other than that the trails are your typical wooded trail with the gravel road here and there.. Also, a set of local trails around here require that I ride 3 miles down paved road or 6 miles down the middle of railroad tracks (the road is "safer"
.. So, I need a tire that will a.) Wear well b.) hook up on just about anything and not a requirement but I'd like to get ride of the ballon look and go with something square..
I've ridden with a guy who has holeshots, he says they wear quickly.. as do the Maxxis razrs.. The Kenda bearclaws are supposed to be awesome but I think they're too aggressive a tire for me.. I like to be able to slide my rear end out on corners... The trail claws I have heard are not really all that.. I'm not 100% sure what I read about them but something made me cross them off the list.. The fast trekkers just got crossed off for some other reason..
That leaves me with the Bandits and the All Traks.. I was all set on the Bandits XC(2 22x10x9 rears for ~$130) when I saw a post on here about the Maxxis All-Traks.. (2 22x11x9 rears for ~$80) So now it's just time for me to decide... I think i'm going to try the All-Traks and just hope they're good. Although, I'm looking at DirtWheels right now and the Bandits sure look sweet..
I need a 100% Trail tire that gets good wear and I've heard the last two will do just that..
let me know what you decide.. I haven't ordered any yet.. I'm still debating what pipe I want or if I even need one.. I have too many money pit hobbies and I'm still trying to debate whether or not I need to drop the $$ on a pipe for the improvement I will gain.. I'm a typical trail rider.. and right now the warrior has plenty of trail ability.. The only thing I have seen a SLIGHT need for is new tires.. I'm running on stocker dunlops with abotu 35% tread and they have done fine in what I ride in, albeit, there have been times when i said "man, new tires would be nice" so who knows..
