timberwolf

Hi, I'm new to atving and was hoping to ask a quick question. I finally bought a 96 Yamaha Timberwolf 2wd. I love it, but, here's the stupid question. How do I know I bought a 250? On the title where it lists model# there are numbers and letters and it says 250. Appreciate your help. Thanks

Hi I have a 1997 Timberwolf. First of all all the Timberwolf's even the 1999's are 250 even the 4x4's. Second, you need to be careful with it because it has a really weak rear-end. The one i have is a great 4-wheeler sturdy, quick, and very good in the mud. I've had it in 3ft of mud before till it bottom'ed out. Another thing is the more mud you go through, trust me from experence, you rear and the two front brake will frezze up if you don't take the hole nine years apart to clean them. A good tip is for every 5 full tanks of gas you pour in change your oil. Finally if your riding in water about axle hight, be sure to change your rear end oil cause it will start to rust. Over all it's a good machine. I've dogged mine since i've had it and it's held up in most cases.
