Friday night, 1 hour into my ride I hit a rock and put a nice hole in the inside edge of the tire. 4 plugs later (good thing I have a bike pump strapped to the front bumper) and I was off.

Saturday night, riding a short distance on a road late at night (I know it's not right)the guy behind me see's my rear tire smoking. I pull over and it's flat again and looks
LIKE THIS.

Would you say the tire was defective or it was caused by riding it flat with the road, flatness, and the rim making these perfectly spaced tears?

Anyone else had this happen?

Got a set of Holeshot XCT's on the way to replace them.

Due to the fact that it's a radial tire, when you put the hole in it, you most likely tore a few belts. Combine the torn belts with riding on it flat [or just under-inflated], and you will get damage like that. Had it been a bias ply tire, you may not have gotten that type of damage.

The first hole was on the inside of the tire (swingarm side of the tire). Would that effect all the cords?

No, just you. And personnally, I think you're incredibly hard on tires. hehehee

I have the worst luck with tires! The XCT's are the only tires that I have tired that hold up for me in the desert.

I hear ya... Ive been lucky with tires in the desert considering all the tire-eating nasties out there. Ya know...they all must be looking for you.

Yes, the radial cords wrap all the way around a tire, from one side to the other, at an angle. A bias ply tire has cords that run around the circumfrence[sp?].

Still seems odd to me that the holes are so evenly spaced.
Thanks for all the info!
