Ok, I'm getting a new Baja DS, and I need to know some stuff about it, like.....

1) What kind of Oil should I buy, where do I get it, what oil filter, and where do I get it too?

2) what is the procedure for changing the oil, and how often should I change it. How often Do I change the filter?

3) What spark plug does it take?

4) valve adjustment info?, and how often?

5) Chain tightening procedure?

6) Any other adjustments, things to grease, or anything I should know would be great, tips, tricks

Ok, A guy told me (he happened to be a banshee owner) that the Ds is made strictly for sand, and tips over way easy. he said that since the tires are radials that they suck, and he said that it was sooo top heavy, it rolls over in sharp turns. I hope this isn't true, is it?

Oil, use what you are comfortable with, it needs to be made to work with wet clutches. I am currently using honda hp4.

Oil filter, get it from bombardier. You can order from here

Spark plug, not sure never changed mine, pulled it once to look, but did not read the number. Check your manual on that.

Manual can give you more on the oil change procedure. Basically drain the oil from the reservoir tank, and the crankcase and then pull the oil filter cover and let all the oil drain. Then replace the oil filter with a new one, reinstall the cover reinstall all drain plugs. Then refill with oil. It takes somewhere between 3-4 quarts.

Change the oil as often as you feel it needs to be changed, I tend to do mine every couple of months or more often if I am riding a lot and hard.

Valve adjustment, dont really know have not done mine yet.

Chain tightening, not sure either, but I will be learning soon, I think it is a little on the loose side.

Grease everything that has a zirk and do it every other ride. That will keep everything lubed and working well.

Tips, well there are alot and the best thing to do is just read back through all the old posts.

The DS is not tippy, probably the opposite. I would guess you would have to try real hard to tip it over. It is the most stable quad I have been on and I really like it. The tires on the baja are the same as the 400ex and I think they are great. Your friend does not really know what he is talking about.

It does sit higher than most quads, but is also longer and wider.

If you plan mods, you need to reread some old posts.

Lots of good info here, so stick around and learn from these guys, I am sure it will not be long and you will be looking for more power and there is no cure for that.

Hope I helped some.
