I only have 250 on miles on mine, but I did the GPS test yesterday. At 64 mph indicated I was doing 60.2 by the GPS. At 40mph it was 38.6 GPS. I truly think that the most accurate way would be to see if you get someone to radar you. GPS is good and close, but not the most accurate. Too many variables enter into the GPS equation fo it to be right on.

I'll try mine out this week

I have to disagree.. the GPS is prob MORE accurate than the radar. Just MHO

I am a firm believer in GPS... aviation and personal

In having worked with GPS systems since 1987 I know of the varibles that enter into the speed equations. Things like signal to noise ratios, satellite elevation above the horizon, weather conditions all have an effect on the accuracy of the consumer models of GPS recievers. You cannot compare the ones that the Military and Commercial airlines use with the one you gan get at WalMart. They just aren't in the same league.

Basicaly that's what I wanted to know, Yami apparently did caliberate the speedo pretty darn close, much like the electronic Honda speedo. Now if only they had a tire size selector built in.

I have no idea, and I would figure that speedometers will not be totally accurate across the board with the same models even.

I ran a GPS test right after I got my Grizzly last year. At 65 on the speedo, the Magellan 315 said 60.0mph. Stock tires, flat pavement, wound out.

Then a few months ago, a cop clocked me at a supposed 59 and I had not seen my speedo crack 60 yet. Its hard to tell what to believe, but I still don't believe it when my speedometer hits 69 on a big paved hill. No way its actually going that fast.

i did a gps reading on mine right before i put on the new rubber, and it read 65 while my speedo read 68.
with the new tires, i have no idea what is my speed? if i go to 26 in tires, how far off will my speedo be, and in what direction?
i can assume that if it was 3 mph off in the past, reading high, then it might just be about right now? any help would be cool!

Mich, the 26" tires should bring your speedo closer to in line ( but will still read less than a MPH fast ) Apparently Yami used very high pressure or different tires when they set up the speedo, for the three mph off most folks seem to think would need a ~1.1" taller tire to make the speedo dead on.
