We all started off on a big run yesterday, only for me to blow a tire in the first mile. I always run the recommended 3.6 psi in the tires, but they seem so soft. What happened was I hit a small rock and the tire was so soft that it folded against the rim and cut itself. After I patched it up I pumped all of them up to about 6 psi and had no problems for the rest of the day. Is it ok to run the pressure that high? It seems to make more sense on the rocky trails.

Higher pressure will give you a little better control. Less sidewall flex. I run with 6 psi all the time. It will also stop you from hitting the rim (bottoming out on the tire) on big air with hard landings.
