2002 Scrambler X Motor is Toast after 2 Hours!!
#1
My brother just bought a brand new 400 Scrambler X. He rode it around his field for a while to make sure the oil was going down in the tank and see that everything was working. We then took it on an easy trail ride (wives were along, we weren't moving very fast). 12 miles into the ride, the motor seized up tight. We towed it to the nearest parking lot, they doubled up on my Eiger and I rode her Trail Blazer the rest of the day.
He cleaned it up (my back tires had covered him in mud when I was towing him) and took it to the dealer. At first the dealer said if it was a motor problem he would install a new one. Now he is saying it is Polaris' policy to not do that. He is going to tear it down and fix it. So now my brother's 2 hour old atv will have a rebuilt motor! Worse still, we are taking a family atv vacation in 3 weeks and the dealer doubts it will be ready by then! Anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this situation?

I could not agree more. There is no way I would except a rebuild on a new bike, at that point it is a USED REBUILT bike, not new. Contact Polaris directly and raise some majior $#&!. They should send you a new motor. SCREW POLICY, they are takeing time off the engine, One less rebuild that you will be unable to do.
