Why Polaris has so many models
#2
That's now WHY they have so many models.
They have so many because people want the Magnum 500, but want to pay less. Or they want the Xplorer 400, but want to pay less, etc...
They are making people happy and making money doing it.

I agree totally with rooster. All arctic cats except maybe the new automatic share an almost identical frame. Talk about cloning. I don't know what Boner was thinking when he said that about Honda. Nothing is interchangable other than maybe stuff on the Foreman 400 and 450. Polaris's uses very similar plastic and racks, but evey now and then they change something. Still they use a lot of the same from model to model.
Ever see a 1997 polaris brochure? Magnum 425, Sportsman 400, Sportsman 400L 6x6, trail boss 250, and the new trail boss 325 are all working on similar cosmetics here. Then they took that sportsman look and went balistic with it. how anyone could have that big of a facination with plastic racks is beyond me. The best thing polaris did was ditch the Express lineup. They looked like cheap crap. Probably the most weak looking quads Ive ever seen were the 300 Express series. Barf!!

Yeah Kagey... thats what i'm thinkin..shouldn't it??.. hehehehe....
Anyway.. as for Polaris models... someone in another thread said it best...
Polaris has a unique way of exploring little niche' markets that other manufacturers pass over..
If you want a big bore IRS equipped utility machine.. no problem, Sportsman 500.. can't quite swing the payments.. we got it covered.. Sportsman 335.
Not sure about IRS.. no problem.. heres a Magnum in 500, and 325 cc versions.. Don't need 4WD.. heres a Magnum 325 2X4.
Wanna shift your own gears.. how about Expedition .. now, do you want a 425 or 325?.
Want a big engine but still not a shaft drive person.. Heres an Explorer 400 or the entry level 250 4x4.
Just want a 2wd 4-stroke.. theres the Trail Boss.
Want a sport machine.. theres the Scrambler series.. want a 2-stroke? 4-stroke? 2wd? 4wd? THESE have reverse and electric start!!!!!!... Trailblazer.. inexpensive and fun!!!
Stuck in the middle of a 10,000 acre corn field and only come to town once a month?.. theres the diesel for fuel compatability with the John Deere..
Want a bed on it?.. They have the Sportsman 6X6.. and the Ranger.. Basically a small truck.
OPTIONS!!!.... Talk about having OPTIONS!!..
Ya know.. I see more and more women on Scramblers... and most of the time.. its a toss-up as to which one looks better. Personally, I think they compliment each other... My girlfriend looks good, and so does the Scrambler.. but put them together... MMMMMMMMMMMMM......
Adam, do you remember the blonde at the Karnack run on a Purple Scrambler with 25" Swampers?.....mmmmmmmmmm......
