Has anyone tried using helium in there tires? If so, did it make any difference. I have a 98 Warrior, which is purely stock and love it for what is was made for SPORT-UTILITY. I'm planning of purchasing a high-performance ATV, but being patient for all the contenders. Yamaha is confusing, because it leads the Motorcycle world with the YZF R-1 and destroys all the competition with two of the most electrofying dirt-bikes; YZF 400 & 426. Yet, it's planning catch-up with there high-performance atvs. The Banshee is awesome, make no mistake about it, but Bombardier, Honda, & now Cannondale are making waves that are simply more freshing than the Team Yamaha...!!!!

Juvenile,

I am assuming you are wondering if using helium in your tires will help make an ATV more bouyant and able to cross water and/or mud better. Although helium has a molecular weight of 4, about 1/7th of air, the reduction in weight for the volume of 4 typical ATV tires would be negligible. You could lose more weight by cutting your hair before you ride.

A negative side effect will be increased leakage. Not only is helium the second lightest element, it is also a very small. This means it will leak out faster that air, and can actually pass through holes too large for air molecules.

It will be much easier to just stick with air.
