Fuel Pump won't stop running
#1
The other day I pulle my Speed out to prep it for the next GNCC (this weekend) and changed the handle bars to the tag t2's. After changing them I fired the machine up to warm it up and check the handle bar postition. When I shut the quad off so I chould change the oil the fuel pump continued to run. So I checked all the conections for a possible grounding and had no luck so I charged to battery hoping this would fix the problem. Result fuel pump still running (even with the key out)!! So I pulled to fuse and today I called to dealer. He called Cannondale and they said that they have had cases where the ECU was bad causing this problem. So he told me to bring the quad up and he'll install a new one. I dropped it off tonight and he told me he had the part in stock and would replace it tomorrow the quad would be ready for the race this weekend!!! I had problems/hits that something was wrong the last 2 races, but because of me not knowing a whole lot about this machine I had no clue that is was the reason. 2 races ago after the race was over the pump ran for a minute or so after I shut it off and the last race it died a mile from the finish line on the last lap and took 7 minutes to start back up. I was told that this problems more than likely where from the ECU not over heating or something else. I just want to post this in case others are having any similiar problems. By the way mine is #161. I'll let anyone know if the final solution if it differ form what is posted and I'll also post my race results from this next national as soon as I can.

At the cannondale tech school we actually had the same thing happen to the quad we were doing the electical tests on what happened is this if you are testing the hot wire to the fuel pump and you short the wire to the pump body it will feed back to the ecu and burn out the relay in the computer itself. They are going to up the amp.rating on that relay since if you do the same thing to the fan circuit it wont hurt a thing. So look out for shorts in the fuel pump circuit whether while testing or from other causes.I for one got real nervous testing after that but I was glad it happened for them to see Mike Walsh sr. and the head guy from columbia motorsports were working on the quad with me so they were very knowledgeable.Replacing the computer is the only way to fix $170 min.

I got the quad back and it was indeed the ecu. The dealer fix it free of charge. He said it was propably bad from the start and just got worst the more I rode/race it. The best part was that I got it back in time for the Gncc race this past weekend. Details on how I did at the race will be posted on a new thread shortly.
