help --oil leaking from driveshaft seal
#1
Seems that weeds wraped around the driveshaft and took out my seal. The seal is located between the engine case and the driveshaft. I own a 2001 500 auto. Is it hard to replace? I am in the process of tracking down a service manual.
Thanks for any help!

Is there also a seal inside the yoke? I spent a hour trying to unwrap all weeds from the small crevice. The yoke will have to come off to get to the seal. Maybe I described it wrong. Do I have drop the entire driveshaft? OR just unbolt it from the front and pull off the nut thats hold the yoke on? I am having a hard time getting a service manual.

Just mark the yoke and unbolt it from the drive shaft. Then unbolt the yoke and slide out. Pop the seal out and replace with a new one, make sure you drive it in nice and square. There is also a freeze plug like seal in the yoke that needs to be replaced when you remove it. If you need torque specs let me know. Make sure the drive shaft and yoke go back on lined up the same way they came off.

Thanks for the info I will have to get the freeze plug. The dealer I purchased the case seal from said the Suzuki seal is the same. Is the the freeze plug also easily replaced? I am still looking for a service manual. Torque specs would be great.... THANKS
