Reverse on '94 sp
#1
Howdy.
I have a '94 sportsman 400 2 strokethat has started getting herd to get into reverse.
when I pull the shifter back it just rattles unless I slam it in, then it tends to pop out of gear...
Is this just linkage? or am I lookin' at a tranny problem?
Also, do they make a sprocket set to drop the gear ratio on this quad?
Speed ain't as important as torque.
Thanx.

Alaskan that sounds very much like a linkage problem if you want to call it that. It's very easy to adjust, just kind of a pain in the butt to get at.
Here's what you do to check your linkage: You'll need to move the exhaust pipe back out of the way for easier access. Useing a black felt pen , mark both linkage before loosin up the nuts, the mark is to keep track of turns, (usually 3/4- 1 turn). Put the machine in nutral and turn the linkage bothways till you feel resistance and your adjustment is right inbetween.
Hope this helps and understand my explanation if not then I can copy out of my manual.
