Grizz 660 has funny noise in the front end in 4x4
#1
yep. ONly does it in 4x4.. not in 2x4. Not really a grinding sound, but something like that.. maybe the fluid is low? I checked both axles and they had no play, all the cv boots looked good.
What else can I check?
I did notice the ujoint to the front diff was rusted looking. Going to grease it tom when I get a grease gun. Does the front shaft to the diff turn when in 2x4?

have heard that same noise in several grizz front diffs. some worse than others. even dissasembled the 1st one and found nothing wrong. the yamaha rep said some of these difs have some noise in them and is normal. and yes, the front shaft turns turns all the time you are in motion.

ok... good info, thx!
I just thought it was odd.. never heard it before, but then again, I haven't had to use 4x4 yet I put it in 4hi and low and lock everytime I ride just to keep everything going

I have also noticed a fair amount of front end noise, particularily when in 4wd HI. I've checked the fluid and CV joints, nothing out of whack. The noise is not excessive, but I have nothing to compare it to. No one else that I know has a Grizzly. Guess all can do is wait to meet up with someone on the trail. I will bet both my right and left walnuts a dealer will tell me "nope that is absolutely normal". I'll just ride it till it breaks and make them fix it under warranty I guess.
