Hello Folks,
I was looking at an atv magazine and it has a section on 250 ex it says torture test. In the article it talks with a company that rents atv's and they say that the 300ex has problems with 3rd gear going out and that the welds do not go all the way around on the shock mounts. Has anyone had any of these problems with their 300ex's.I wanted to ask you guys what you thought. These were rented quads so that may be some part of it. And I know they were not honda bashers because they loved the 250ex durability.
Thanks Steve

The 1987 250X was the quad with the 3rd gear problems.

I've never heard of any of the EX line having transmission problems.

I'm not saying that haven't been any failures, but there is no problem.

You also have to figure that a lot of amateurs are riding them. I believe they also mentioned that the riders were breaking shift levers off of the 250EX's and burning the clutch. It may be that the riders are go up hills in 3rd gear that they shouldn't be and all the stress could be breaking them. But then again I'm not a mechanic. I wouldn't really worry about it. And the shock welds have been a problem for a while, but it shouldn't be to much of a problem unless the riders were really airing it out, but so far the only real problem I have had is that my brakes wear down fast and my rear brake reservior thing has a bunch of crack in it, probably from the exhaust heat.
