I am a die hard Honda rider with a 2 wheel and a 4 wheel drive under my barn. I have found what sounds like a great deal on a brand new Arctic Cat 400i. I can buy it for less that $4,500.00 including tax. I am thinking of purchasing it to have a 3rd ATV for our use. Is this a good price and what do the rest of you think about the Arctic Cat's reputation. I have not heard good things in the past. Let me know...

Dude

Buy the Cat,if its a 2002 it,s liquid cooled,if its a 2003 its fan/air and oil cooled
the 02 has lots of jam.If its the 03 the new motor will match last years 500.The price seems good if they throw in the winch!!The independant rides awsome,it holds a ton of gas(5 gallons),
the 12"of clearance rocks and it will go way more places than any other machine(I ride with a lot of other makes and models) Havent got to compare to the 700 Polaris yet!!If it a manual I think you will have a bullet proof machine as it has no electric shifting for any thing.

Just my opinion I have some hard, happy miles on my 2002 5001

In my opinion the cat is extremly reliable,I have friends with the older (ugly Bearcats)
they have had no major mechanical problems and we ride hard year round. My 500i has not given me a moments trouble and I ride at -20 in the deep snow or + 35 in the muskeg they really seem to be a simple machine happy riding = keep it simple

Very reliable... I haven't had any problems. When they do, seems like AC backs them up well, just don't here about many break downs.

I love my '01 400. Very reliable. I duck hunt in the cypress sloughs and flooded timber of Arkansas in the winter - ride and park for hours submerged in water halfway up the engine, never a drop enters anywhere - these things are sealed tight! No higher hauling or towing capacity exists either - I pull a 12' trailer loaded with a couple guys and hundreds of decoys out into the flooded rice fields, with a guy sitting on each rack for added traction!

I honestly think your real problem, should you buy the cat, will be who gets stuck with the Hondas! Once you ride the cat for a little while, you won't want to give it up!

I've had my 400 act for a year now and have has no problems with it, despite the harsh treatment I tend to dish out.

I test drove some Hondas, Yamahas, and Bombardiers before buying the cat, none of them could compair for comfort of ride and the feeling of sheer power (well, ok, the Grizz did, but it was a harsher ride).

I say go for it, that price is a steal!
