Prarie 300 4x2
#1
I was just wondering about these machines quality.I know from experience the 290cc engine is reliable.I know it would not be fast or a screamer.I am just looking for a full sized ute to knock around quietly on.i had a bayou 300 for 4 years, how would they compare. The bayou is a litte cramped for me.I like the idea of a full sized machine without the bells and whistles to drive the price up.I have seen a few 97s and a 99 around here for 2500- 2900$.Does that price sound fair. Thanks guys(and girls).Later

Hey I own a second-hand 99 model 300 4x2. I thought no one else had it!! It is a good machine, the suspension is much more suited for riding double than the Bayou 300. The 300 Prairie is on a 400 frame, so it is very big for its cc rating. It has plenty of power for me, I topped it out at 46.5 mph (gps). The tie rod ends are a vulnerable spot, as well as the front bumper. I bought mine for 2500 dollars. As for comparing to the Bayou 300, the prairie tows more, and it doesnt lean nearly as much in turns, especially riding double. The floorboards are nice on longer trips. The prairie also includes an oil cooler, and the bayou doesnt.
Hope this helps.

Jeo,there is 99 P-300 4x2 for 2500$ in GA.I hope it does not sell before I can can unload my quad. How do the tranny and belt work, trouble free or high maintance. Can it pull A small set of discs for food plot.Does it have a low.If not that would be reason for leaning towards a suzuki or AC.

yes, it has a high and a low. The tranny has worked flawlessly under heavy operating conditions. With a tow rating of 1100 lbs (30 lb. tongue weight), it should have no problem pulling a disc. I have towed around 700 lbs up steep slopes with no problem. Starting is great, always strong. I ride my machine very hard, it has seen much action, including a high speed rollover. It sent me to the hospital (i feel really dumb), but the quad escaped any real damage. Im guessing the food plot is for dove...am i right?

It is a 3(if that) acre plot of oates and and clover for whitetails. It is a natural clearing in the woods and the kubota cannot get there and it would take all day to turn the top soil with a tiller. It is for the late season when the deer are to hesitant to come out into the winter wheat fields until dark.
