Round 10 of the GNCC's (Dust Bowl)

The shoulder is fine. I couldn't see the whole race. Nothing but dust. I had a decent start. Mid pack and passed like 4-8 quads on the moto course. I got behind Richard (he ended up finishing 3rd in the class and 4 O/A) I followed him until the 6 mile marker. The course started to have lots of quick turns and I was afraid to push to hard do to the collar bone so I backed of and let him go next thing I know alot of guys in my class go blowing by. By the last lap the dust started to effect the quad, idling rough and dying on down hills until it finally over heated and blew all the anti-freeze out. Lucky it happen near a house so I asked for some water and was back in business. I ended up finishing 29th in the class and 159th overall. Worst race of the season and but with the collar bone injury and the heavy dust I can't complain. Now I know the collar bone can handle racing so round 11 it's back to wide open.

DUST SUCKS. Every time I ride with people, Hard packed dirt trails they pay no attention to the wind is blowing. I normaly ride cleanup so I get dust from everyone. I can only imagine in a race how bad it would be. I'll be pulling brown ones out for a while.

Well, lets put it this way the track was 8 miles long and I can remeber a single part of the race, becuase all I see for the 1 1/2 hrs of racing was dust. All you could do was follow the guy in front and hope he don't make any mistakes. I hate this type of racing, it's hard on the machine and very dangerous. I'll take the finish, all I wanted to do was race to stay in the points race and eligablity for a national number next year, plus it was a nice test on the injury, now I feel that it can handle me racing and I'm not worried breaking it. So I can just go out and race at the next one.

I was wondering if you were going to race lt250r91. I showed up to spectate, got there just as you guys were lining up for the morning class start. I am glad to here you made out ok with regards to the shoulder holding up. That dust was unbelievable. Myself and a couple of other guys wandered around in the woods and it was just unbelievable how bad it was. There were some sections were we couldn't see the racers until they were just feet away. It took some real ***** to ride at more than an idle speed.

I've been spitting up muddy stuff all day! NASTY!!! This was the worst race for dust that I have seen in 12 years of racing. lt250r is not kidding, it was so bad that there were times when you could not see the ground in front of you. You would be riding along and all of a sudden you would drop off a hill that you never even saw coming, kinda like riding a roller coaster with your eyes closed. If you didn't get the holeshot then you didn't have much of a chance of a class win.
This is also the first race that I can remember that they cut the race short by 30min before the race even started.
Glad to here that shoulder held up LT!

I am glad to hear that all races aren't that bad. It was my first one and that dust was something else. It hid a rock fom me and I flipped my FX over a hill and into a tree. Also lost some antifreeze because of it and had to get back to pits to get some water. I got back out and ran another lap but lost to much time in the pits. Hope my next one turns out a little better, but was just glad to cross the finish line.
