Hi guys, any comments or advise about using synthetic oil in a Rubicon? I own one and I am curious to know if it could be a good choice.
Thanks

I would not recommend you use synthetic oil in your Rubicon. It is not proven that it will perform properly with the transmission. I wouldn't take the risk.

Why not use a natural/synthetic blend, and get the best of both worlds???? I would pick Hondas top of the line oil with moly (can't remember the name, but it comes in a silver bottle). Oil is no place to try and save money, or cut corners.

You can use the Amsoil synthetic 10W-40 Motorcycle oil with no problem. It will work with a wet clutch unlike the automotive synthetic oils that will not work with a wet clutch. Your quad will run around 25 to 30 deg. cooler. You should pay around $5.75 a qt..

I use Mobil 1 MX4T which is a fully synthetic in mine. This oil doesn't have the friction modifiers in it like the regular Mobil 1. If you use oil with the moly or friction modifiers in it you will cause the clutch to slip.

I always use OPTI 4 synthetic in my 450s, expensive but worth it. It is the oil Honda uses from the factory. I have a 1000w honda generator that is 14 years old and still runs like new with regular maintenance including OPTI 4.
