Anyone know how wide a tire you can put on a 450 foreman stock rim?

I am intersted in putting 27-12-12 582 tires on my 450ES but it seems a little close to the fender clearence. The stock 12 inch rear rims should take just about any tire, the fronts look fairly narrow though.

I would buy a tire and rim package as its a pain to mount ther tires and no dealers will mount tires unless you buy them there.

According to Honda specs. The front and rear rims are supposedly the same size so hopefully I can go 2" wider on both the front and rear.

I have 27x12" Blackwaters on the rear, and 27x9" on the Front of my 450s with absolutely no clearance problems, stock suspension too. Best investment I made so far. Don't go much wider in hte front, or it will be even harder to steer.

Thanks for the help guys. I don't know which model of tire to go with yet but at least I have a good idea of the sizing I can have.

I'd keep the front tires narrow, besides being easier to steer, it also greatly reduces the wear and tear on the front end components. (and they track better too) 589's, IMO, are the best mudding trail tire out there. they are smooth at speeds above 5mph and they are great in the mud too.
