Hello all,

I'm going to play the ignorant newbie here and ask the same question that I see a bunch of other people asking, simply because of my perticular, ahem, "stature". That is to say, I'm a fairly big dude - 6'0", about 240. Here is some more info on myself and my experience:

- as said, 6 foot, 240
- I like speed, but I ain't crazy
- I mostly do sand at Pismo Beach
- I have lots of motorcycle experience on steet and dirt, but very limited quad experience. I currently use my Jeep and Sandrail on the dunes, but all my friends are getting or already have quads. Banshees and Raptors.
- I am a constant tinkerer. I need something that I can work on and upgrade.
- I want to get out the door for less than 6 grand. This brings me to my second question. In CALIFORNIA, what is a good price for the following quads, and which one (for those who have owned or had experience with more than one of them) would be the better bet for me? Any of them underpowered for my big butt? Too much for the "novice", as it were?

- Suzuki Z400
- Honda 400EX
- Banshee (though I'm not sure about a 2 stroke, seems that 4 strokes are generally mroe reliable and smoother riding)
- Cannondale (probably a little pricey)
- Raptor
- What's this GasGas rumor I've been hearing?

Anyway, any help or advise ya'll could give me would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Marc

Ever think about a DS 650, the big guys seem to like them, they are very comfortable, fast, go great in the dunes.

The best would probably a dale but if thats a little pricey go with any of your choices, they'd all be good.

blastermaster is right.
the shee can waste all of these quads with a little bit of money in it because mods on 2 strokes go a lot farther. if you arent afraid of dirty hands like you say, the shee is the way to go. as far as reliability goes, 2 strokes are a little more maintenance but they dont have any inherent durability problems. if you go four stoke then look at either the raptor or ds650. all the others will be too small. if you can wait, the predator and kfx700 might be worth a look too. happy shopping!
