I bought a 2000 Rancher 4x4 ES the first week of November from Cleveland/Akron Honda. I like the machine alot. On Dec 7 the Speedometer and Odometer quit working.

This is double trouble because the electric shift relies on this info to shift. No more electric shift. (Unless you turn off the ATV, Turn key on, shift to neutral, Start ATV, Pick your gear and then go. No more shifting until you start the process over again) Takes alot of fun out of riding.

On December 10 I returned the Rancher to the dealer for service. They say the sensor needs replaced.

The Problem !!!! PART ON BACK ORDER!!!

It is now Dec 22 and I still do not have my Rancher. The dealer say they are doing all they can. The blame it on Honda.

Is this common for a manufacture to sell a new model without any parts available for it.

If anyone has an e-mail address for someone at Honda that may be able to help, I would be truely greatfull.

Thanks

All I want for Christmas is my Rancher back!!!

I have been an active ATVer since 1984.And yes,it is a common practice for parts to be on back order on ANY quad.Even one that has been on the market for awhile.I bought a new 99 Polaris Sportsman 10-23-98,I ordered a service manuel for it,I finally got it in May of 1999.I could go on and on about how long manufactures take to get us some needed parts. It usually occurs alot more with newer model quads such as in your case.I have seen it happen on older ones as well.Im wanting a new Rubicon, but I think I will pass because of this problem.GOOD LUCK====BILL

Bill, you will probably like your Sportsman once you get it back. You will probably keep it, right?
