Deciding on a new quad for MX, hare scambles..
#1
Hello, and thanks for reading, im new to the group and getting back into the sport after taking the past two years off. My previous ride was an 86 trx250r, used primarily at the local mx track on practice days and racing in a few hare scrambles.
Now, Im looking for a new one to do the same similar things but unsure of what to get after reading all the available articles I could find, so id figure Id post it here. I am looking at a new KFX400(like the green plastic over the z400), 400ex, Banshee, or maybe even the raptor, but from what i have heard they are a little top heavy...another trx is out of the question since I want a NEW machine. I would appreciate any real world info you have on this, thanks

I was thinking about the cannondales also but trying to stay away from the fuel injection until they find a way to get an easier way to tune them rather than have to take the bike back to the dealer to get the fuel maps changed all the time for tuning. I guess am just too used to tuning the carbs....anyone else have some input?

Don't worry about any tuning with the Cannondales.
The "mapping" may sound like some sort of black art that is confusing but is really simple once you find someone to show you what changes are NEEDED for the riding style you have.
I have a map that was custom designed for my quad that consists of mostly dirtbike settings [The secret is out!!...LOL] and I use this map for both Hare Scrambles and the occasional MX track and don't have any complaints.
Check out the 'Dales.
My 2nd choice would be the Z400/KFX400
