Port + Polish and webcam
#1
I was just wondering how many of you guys have had your cannondale ported and polished? I was thinking about sending mine to trinity to have it done but I need to hear that it makes a big difference before I tear it all apart and send it off. I was hoping I could get some honest answers about how much of a difference it makes. I was also wondering if anybody has tried the new webcam. I saw a post a while back about it but then nothing else. Does anybody have it?

I don't know from first hand knowledge how big a difference Trinity's port/polish does, but I am waiting for an answer from Smitty as well about seat of the pants performance before I send mine in. The head is sitting on the bench and ready to ship.....JIM

The guy at RS told SparkyEX that the cams don't do much for performance and what little they do is out wieghed by the fact that the cams make it run like crap. I don't know first hand this is just what I heard.

I heard C'Dale is working on changing the EFI Injector blast offset. Actually moving the injector so the spray pattern does not bounce off the side of the valves. This is supposed to make a world of differance.
Anyone else heard this?

Well as I may be the only one out there with the Port and Polish. My quad will be back togther soon. Waiting on the side covers to get powder coated.
With the Port and Polish from Trinity, the bike made 46.3 HP. With the new sleeve from a little sand injestion, I will be breaking it in again this week or next weekend. It does pull harder all the way up to redline. It also pulls more linear.
Havent tried the webcams and I don't plan on it either.
As far as moving the injectors Harry was thinking about that but with limited time to play with it we haven't tried it either. Maybe this summer when it's to hot to ride.

Smitty,
Thanks for the info. I swear I have tried to talk to Harry quite a few times, but no luck. Do you think I am safe just shipping the head with a note of what I want done? The guy I talked to said he was a friend of yours....JIM

Alaska,
Josh, is the one doing most of the tear down, Will, is handeling some of the phone work and also helping with parts. As far as the work goes, I think Harry is the one who would actualy do it.
I got my cover abck from the powder coater yesterday and will be dropping them off this morning and will ask. My money says Harry is the only one that will port the Cannondales for the time being.

Smitty,
I appreciate your "legwork", thank you! There is one local shop that does awesome machine work and works on almost all the cars, trucks, cycles and atvs that need it. I just figured it is worth the shipping cost to have someone experienced with Cannondales do it, not just 4 strokes in general.....let me know what you find out, thanks again........JIM

Most people when they port the head actualy lose power due to the different port design. Harry took my head to TRD Toyota Racing Development, and talked it over with a buddy of his, before he touched anything. Not alot of matetial was removed and I'm not sure what was actually done. It does work well though. My quad will be back up and running this weekend, so I'll let you know how it does.
