Need some feed back on the 2002 Praire 650
#1
I will like to know how some of the owners of the 650 Praire feel about their ATV. I will be using it for hunting purpose and will become a trial rider going to different States that offer trial riding.

I think just about anyone would be more than happy about the 650. I haven't had mine very long but am very impressed. Great power, good engine braking and brake system, very stable on off cambers, decient fuel milage, looks ok. Ground clearance is not at the top of the pile. Handles great and rides pretty good. I think all the quad manufatures build goob machines. I boils down to want you need. If ride quality is most important to you you might consider a Grizz or Rincon. But off camber stability will not be as good. I noticed that ground clearance on the irs machines is not as impressive when they are loaded. They do squat a little. (I weight 325 and carry a lot of gear so the irs that I tried wasn't very much higher than a straight axle machine.) Power wise the 650 is strong. Have two friends(yes, only 2) one with a Grizz 660 and the other with a SP700. I can take them both in a straight line drag, but honestly, on the trail they are quite comperable.(Our trails don't allow much 50+ mph riding.) I like all three. The P650 just fit my tastes. Hope this helps!

Try to ride all the big bores if you can before you decide. They are all very good.
I love my P650 and have had very few problems, it is easy to set up for your style of riding.
I got the P650 mostly because there is no vibration with the V-twin. During long rides the big singles
do vibrate through the handle bars.
Just couldn't live without the power now!

The 650 is by far sportier. Much more controllable and more stable on hills. Firm ride. It is not perfect, though. The tires stink, you have to buy better ones.
The 660, with it's ultra soft susp and soft seat is much less controllable. You need a firm seat to apply body language. You have to get off the seat before you can slide your fanny. I still like the ground clearance.
The Rincon is a better handler than the 660 and is more fun overall than the 660, but the drum brakes, lack of engine brakes, and lack of a diff lock keep me away from it. Probably doesn't have near the tire turning umph that the P650 has, so it wouldn't be as good for muddin. I rode it. It is pretty nice.
