White Bros. Trail cam for 400EX
#5
About three weeks ago picked up a White Bros. all around cam for my 2000 400ex but I haven't installed it yet. East Coast ATV had two used ones in good condition for $65 each (no core charge), so I snatched one up. I just placed an order for hard faced rockers from Web Cam, (not cheap). I will be installing a Wiseco 10:1 85mm piston too. The winter up here in Michigan is not much good for riding so it may be a while before I can report on any performance gains.

if i add discs to my white bros. pipe i will loose some bottom end, my question is will a cam compensate for the loss of low end?
what are the different types of cams out there and how do they differ?
Thanks Jera '00 400ex

Trail Mix, Can you find out if that other cam is available for sale and what the specs might be (lift, duration, etc.)? And how does the specs or performance compare to stock? I'm always ready to experiment w/different performance mods. To answer the White Bros. pipe question--The more disks you use gives better top-end and more noise (also probably need a fatter main), the lesser number of disks used gives better low-end torque and less noise (probably okay to use a stock jet depending on your airbox mods if any).

Feara400, here's the scoop on the used cam I bought from East Coast ATV(www.eastcoastatv.com). East Coast has two XR400R's that they put 440 kits and White Bros. trail/all-around cams in. After running them a short while they found a huge big bore kit that they upgraded too. I think they said it was a 480 kit and it needed a different cam. They had no use for the trail cams anymore so they were selling them. I was concerned that the cam might not be the right one for a 400EX if it came out of a XR400R. So I got the part# off the cam from East Coast ATV and called White Bros. to check it out. They are the same cam for both machines. They told me what the specs were but I didn't write it down. The cam is still listed on their web site. Normally you'd pay $150 for the cam and have a $125 core charge. I got mine for $65 and can keep my stock cam. The used cam looks like new- no discernable wear.
