Predator oil change some metal, some paint???
#1
When I did my first oil change I expected some metal on the plugs which is fine.
Th engine plug had very little metal.
The oil tank plug had a fair bit of metal stuck to it.
The oil filter was silvery in color.
The bottom of the oil containers that I drained the old oil into had some metal plus some red and green paint flakes or atleast thats how I would describle it.
I was very gentle while braking the motor in and expected some metal just not quite this much it was small though, but even the old oil a silvery color.
Did anyone else experience this with there Predator?
My question is what the hell were they painting in or near this engine? lol

Hey, just did my first oil change and found that my oil was a silvery color almost like glitter. The engine plug had a sliver of metal on it and the tank plug had some metal shavings too. As for the paint that you found, I dont know. I didnt find anything like that in my oil. I was also gently on the break-in, glad I decided to change the oil after 1 hr.

My oil change after break in wasn't as clear as I'd liked to have seen but It wasn't what I'd call silver. It's possible Polaris used a special breakin oil -if something like that exists. I did notice some fine metal shavings on the plug magnets, but it was minimal. No paint Thank God!

Im also going to change again at 3 hrs too. You guys have problem with the o-ring gasket on filter cover and sealer whashers leaking a little. Think it would be alright to wait till next oil change to replace these.

I did my oil change at one hour and saw no metal in there, but there were some shavings on the drain plug. My oil was green-tinted though, just like the stuff that came out of my Arctic Cat.
Next change due soon, I'm at 17 hours now (total)...

Changed the oil today after the recommended one hour of run time. I actually had closer to two hours but thats the way it goes...
Observations.
There was a considerable amount of shavings and crap on the crankcase magnetic plug, no wonder the one hour rule!
Original oil was a yellow color. The PS-4 refill is green.
Honda 400ex oil filter is an exact match to the Polaris filter. Mine now has a Genuine Honda filter!
