Anyone modifying the DS50 or DS90 2-strokes?
#2
I have spent many hours with mods on my son's DS90 2 stroke. I started with removing that big restriction in the exhaust called a spark arrestor. That did alot for it. then I started re- jetting with some improvment I still wanted more and ordered a 7 tooth bigger rear sprocket for more power. But then I found MQ Racing who has been working with these mini quads for racing and has some good after market stuff. Like a 24 mm carb performance exhaust and parts to improve the clutch. Still fine tunning but getting there.
you can check thier web site at miniquadracing.com
Good luck

my son ice races the pee wee class and hop ups are limited but the best thing i did was to put on a 10 tooth smaller rear sproket!! what a difference (sidewinder) helps alot for trail riding as well,no loss of low end power. really there is a company building everthing for these mini's down south, have the info at work will post tomorrow.

he has a scrambler 90. tried a pipe from d-d and it sucked. made more noise not much more power and the clutch parts did'nt work at all. drove all the way to little sahara for dune trip and clutch mods locked up rode 2-up all week this etonracing (simmons racings products) seems to have there stuff together call them. the 10 tooth smaller sproket came from simmons good people.

Most of our riding is in the sand at Glamis. The ten teeth smaller I think would be a problem with starts on an up grade with the paddle tires. I did try a 7 tooth bigger on rear. But that was too big. The DS90 has a 40 on rear stock. Maybe a 3 tooth bigger would help with starts at the top of the hill. Had to give him a push a couple of times to get him going. Once it's going and gets into the upper band it's all-good. Just need that start with the paddle tires.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

well i gave up on the 90cc stuff in the sand and bought (buying) suzuki z250. with paddles the 90cc just wont climb very good, narrow ect. did'nt want to spend as much on hop-ups and i did on the thing in the first place he rode a 250ex in the sand and did very well ( 7 years old) i think this 250 will be safer as well.
