Just how good are the stock Rear skid plate?

I know the rear plate is a think peice..but just how tough is it? I could prob get one custom made by a friend for cheaper then what one would cost from my polaris dealer. But is it worth it...i mean the stock one looks pretty damn good!

The stocker is actually a really strong piece. Heck Durablue has been marketing something similar lately. If you really want some coverage, team the stock unit up with the add-on Pure Polaris unit. Takes about 5 min to install once you tip the quad up. Just remember to remove your seat first...been some instances of fuel discoloring them. People are going to have to forgive me lately for sounding like a salesperson for Polaris.....this stuff really is that good. The fit and finish is truely second to none. I think that the stock skid plate is far better than any aftermarket aluminum skids. Even with those it is possible to bend and even break the metal. I have ridden through some gnarly rocks with my Pred, and have knocked a couple of chunks out of my factory skid, but have not damaged anything else. Besides, with the plastic skid, you don't hear all of the rocks banging against metal.
