If that was true ,a lot of guys would be removing the EBS's.
40% is a bit much,I dont know how much you lose but its not 40%

500Duse,
I am a little confused. Are you saying that you loose 40% of power with EBS on your 500 or are you saying if you install a performance clutch you will not get the full advantage of power unless you disable your EBS.

atvpilot,
Sorry about the confusion,
I was trying to tell robbs500ho ,
that I highy doupt he will gain 40% by removeing the EBS.
I hear you gain some power,
but 40% sounds like a lot.
Adding a clutch kit is a monster move.
Highly reccomend it to anyone with a sportsman.

A clutch kit will DEFINATELY increase the power-to-the-ground aspect of your machine.
The EBS does not have as low initial ratio as the non-EBS style clutch. Not a huge difference, but if you drive a Sportsman 400 without EBS, and then a 500 with, you can definately tell you can creep along slower with the 400 and still have full belt engagement.

you dont loose 40 % of your pwr with the EBS system. You do however loose low end pwr. You can not disengage the EBS. You must get a clutch off an older machine that didn't have EBS.The way EBS works is the shaft coming from the motor through the clutch is larger dia. It has groves in that match up with the groves on the belt. This keeps the belt in constant contact with the motor,Thus slowing you down. One other word of advise. If you are riding a a speed of 15 MPH or slower you must be in low gear.Other wise the EBS will eat up the belt.
