the 2001 400 Prairie clutch seems like it over revs and then picks up speed. Don't like the way it engages. I want it to work more like my 650P.
Any one worked on this at all ??????
Or get it to work like the Polaris's do !!!!!!!!!!

 

I havent done it, but everything im told is that it responds to a spring just like the 650. I thought mine overrevved when I first got it, but then I realize, that this is where the power band is and have learned to live with it. I do plan on doing a spring as soon as I replace the stock belt.

 

I put the white spring on a 99 400, and it now has a lot more power at low speeds. I used the same spring notches as the stock one was in (I forget which, but it was somewhere near the middle between tighter and looser).

Come to think of it, it may be just a little too low geared at high speeds. It is hard to say, because we haven't ridden it on the road, just in snow. It also got new tires which are heavier and larger dia.

It also has been running rich.

Tough for me to say. I only ride it 5 minutes per month max. My bro rides it mostly.
