86 trx205r shock linkage hitting skid plate
#1
to make a long story short, i had to pretty much hang on the rear grab bar of my bike to (for lack of a better term) "squish" my suspension so i could get my skid plate bolted on. i'm rebuilding my bike and was just wondering how to solve this problem. i thought i read somewhere on here that if i got an 88-89 shock that this would somehow fix the problem? any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

What skid plate are you bolting on? I know the stockers tend to get pretty bent up, but I've never seen and aftermarket one have a problem with clearence.
No, getting the other shock won't help, you still gotta hook up to the link system.

well trapper, i believe that the plate was a dg. i remember looking at the bottom of my swing arm before the plate went on and seeing a part of the linkage below the swing arm. is this normal? it may well be just because the plate was bashed up.
