I have a 2003 polaris scrambler 500. Its about 3 weeks old. I noticed a vibration in the entire bike as soon as you started to go. So i loaded it up and ran it to the dealer and the mechanic thinks its a flat spot on the belt. Would i be better off buying the kevlar belt or just use the stock on that came one it. I was told it was the new spliceless belt. Any help would be appreciated.

Stick with the stock belt unless your pushing much more HP. The kelvar belt wears the cluthes before it will wear out, and the belt is a heck of a lot cheaper than the clutches.

 

The spliceless belt is as good as anything on a stock machine. A Gates or Goodyear are maybe $3-$5 cheaper, but most places won't have it on hand. I would probably go with the stocker myself, unless I had time to tinker with it, and wait for a belt to come in. Some dealers price parts pretty aggressively, and might be as cheap as aftermarket, as well.

 

try taking off the belt housing its not too hard to do probably about 9 screws and one clip and it comes off the you can check the belt
thats probably your best bet

 

i know that this sounds really elementary, but your tires are bias ply, which means that they will develop flat spots in them when parked as little as 2 days. the symptoms, are very similar & will go away soon. (depending on the tempeture after you start riding)

 

Well i took it to the dealer since it was still under warrenty. They said the belts were fine they don't know what the problem is. He said the only thing he can think is my pipe is causing the clutch to ingage prematurley and its causing what we feel. He said after we put my clutch kit on if it still does it then the will look further into it at no cost. Thanks for you help.
