Potential Prairie 300 4x4 owner wants input
#1
I am considering purchasing a 2000 Prairie 300 4x4. I have considred a few reviews (havent been able to find that many), but want to hear from real owners before making my decision. I am curious about any likes or dislikes, good experiences....bad experiences. Also, what is a reasonable price to pay for the 300 4x4 model. Thanks for your input!

Excellent Quad! Good things : plenty of power (even for a 300cc motor), full floor boards are great, speedo, gas guage (a must), decent brakes, 25 inch tires all the way around, full sized quad, pretty darn fast for a 300 4x4. Bad things : very little storage compartments, no handlebar headlight, kind of heavy. I paid $5300 for mine, but I've heard that you can get them cheaper. It's a great machine, I've never regretted it one bit. I got rid of a Polaris Magnum 325 4x4 because I was so impressed with the Prarie. No problems with mine at all, it's one heck of a machine......

The prairies are very well engineered. The only thing I would recommend is that you think seriously about getting the 400. The 300 and 400 are pretty much the same except for the motor. At 600 pounds, your gonna need the extra power, or wish you had it if you buy the 300. The extra money is well worth it.

One of the members in our ATV club his wife rides a 300 Prairie & she loves it. The Prairie is only 2wd. He stated that "When Kawi makes a 500cc or 600cc, he will trade in his Grizzly".
The only thing he didn't like was that "funky" shifting pattern, sometimes you push the button in & sometimes you don't.
I know Kawi makes good products, I used to own a 1100cc STX, jet ski.

i have a 99 300 4x4 praire. it has 26"vamps all around, modified brush gaurd, 100 watt headlight mounted to the steering bar. my wife rides it now since i purchased a honda 450s. we have 500 miles on it now. i have put this machine through alot. the motor is really impressive . i would safely put it up against any 300 class 4x4. the only bad things are...it does weigh 600lbs, it does get a little tippsy on certain hills , and i am now starting to see lack of poer from the drive belt. this is probably due to the fact that we allways ride in the mud and the vamps are very aggressive. the shifter you will learn to dislike. i paid 4800 for mine.
after all the bad things i just said i must say that it is a very good bike and is very comfortable to ride. the seat is very soft and huge. the shocks are great. i don't know what kinda of riding you will be doing but if it is trail riding and or mudding you will enjoy it.

THANKS to those of you who took time to give me some input on my atv purchase. I decided to purchase the Prairie 300 4x4. I am thrilled with the purchase. The Prairie is no doubt the most comfortable and smoothest riding atv I've ever ridden. My hunting buddy went with me to "just look." He liked the Prairie so well, he bought one too! We both paid $5,000 plus tax. Kawasaki also gave us a $250 accesories gift certificate under their current promotion. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP AND INPUT FROM A NEW MORE THAN SATISFIED ATV OWNER!
