Has anyone tried to polish the axle, nurfs, Pure Polaris front grab bar or Pure Polaris WB Pipe on their Predator? I'm going to give it a shot, crappy weather to ride here, and just need to be messing with it while it sits in the garage! I polished the Douglas rims, got the little bit of pitting off of them from riding it in the ditches and down the side of the road this winter in the salt. Just noticed that the axle was nasty looking. I was wondering how well the alum. would shine, and if I would have to keep using Mothers every other day to keep the other stuff shinning like that.

If you don't want to do it all by hand, I think Heapster had posted it, you can go to Harbor Freight, or Northern Hydraulics and get yourself a cheap grinder w/ a buffing wheel. Also the axle is chromoly, not aluminum, didn't know if that's what you meant.....it still might shine up though. Did you do your tie-rods yet. 2 mins, and the things are like a mirror.

I didn't try the tie rods, mine are painted?? Did he strip the paint? The rear axle looks awesome! Super shinny! I just went to the local walmart and got a 6" wheel with the buffing pad for the wheels, worked great. For the axle, I just took the wheels off, started the bike with the rear off the ground, put it in 5th and let it idle while I held the rag on it! lol Took about 4 or 5 times each side to get the salt and crap off, but looks great! I'll try to take a snap shot of it and get it on my pics.

Pro, most of the new bumpers and nerfs have a clear anidizing (sp?) baked on them making polishing them impossible without baking or grinding it off. I know what you mean about the salt. Karl

350X, are you talking about the stock bumper or add on? There isn't anything on the Pure Polaris Front Grab Bar, I messed around a little bit with Mothers on it, shins it right up with just a rag. Going to take a little more energy than the axle, but I think it's going to be worth it.

You CAN Polish the nerfs and bumper. You have to hand sand the sanded finish smooth first. I used my Shopsmith machine and a hard buffing wheel. It took me about two hours but they turned out awesome. You can check out my pictures HERE

hey 350x, how far are you from Superior, WI. I live about 30 miles SE of Superior and am curious where you are located. Not a huge deal though. Brian
