When starting my 300EX in neutral, the light will flash on and off. Sometime it will just go out. The bike will not start with out this light being on. Now, if I pull in the clutch, it will start. I have checked all the wires for shorts. The only thing I can figure is the neutral switch is going bad or what ever the switch is reading is going bad. Any one have this problem before? The EX is a 1993, so some parts are probably worn out.

 

I have an 88 250x which if you know. . they are the same bike. . same motor. . yadda yadda. . .anyway. . .when you say the bike won't start without the light being on. . .is that when you are in nuetral? I know it won't start in gear, but when you're in neutral and the light isn'ty on. .will it not start? What I'm saying is that whether the light is on or not. . if it's in neutral, it should start. .light or no light

 

Mine will start in gear if I pull the clutch lever. If in neutral and I try to start it and the light goes out, no start. The clutch lever has a switch that tells the engine to start. When in neutral I shouldn't have to pull in the clutch lever.

In neutral no light no start. Starter will roll engine over, but no spark.
In neutral have light. Will start.
In neutral no light pull clutch lever. Will start.

 

Anyone else have any ideas?
