Default Transmission fluid??

I am going to change the fluid in my hubs on my scrambler 4x4. I was told that synthetic type f ATF fluid works better than the polaris hub oil. The problem is I can't find synthetic type f fluid anywhere. Does the hub fluid have to be synthetic or will the non synthetic type f fluid do the trick. I was also told to put in Mobil 1 synthetic ATF but it is not type F, will this still work, or is it absolutely necessary to to have type f. what would happen if I did not run type f fluid in my hubs.
Thanx for the info

I use any type F fluid, I have SuperTech right now. Its not real important in those hubs, oil is oil.

Default Transmission fluid??

I would love to use the polaris hub fluid, but my nearest dealer is 50 miles away. That is a long drive for a little bottle of oil. I only make the trip for parts, oil, and trans fluid. You should change it every 100 hours, or when you change your oil. I use the Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. I could not find the type F Mobil 1. I have had a to take apart my hubs a lot lately, (new seals twice, cv joints, cv boots) so the 1 quart bottle of trans fluid will last awhile. The mobil 1 is apparove for fords, but is not a type F. I was told that a non type F cant be mixed with a type F. That was the only reason that you had to run type F because it is compatable with the polaris hub fluid that is left in the hub. Someone correct me if Im wrong. But, when I had my hub apart, I cleaned EVERYTHING with brake cleaner so that none of the old oil was left. So it should be fine to run the Mobil 1 syn.

I believe, but I could be wrong, type "F" just means rated for Ford

The type "F" is for Ford. But the regular Mobil 1 syntetic is approved for certain Fords, however is is not a type "F"
