Am I too big for a Recon?
#1
I am about 6'1" and weigh about 165 pounds. I have sat on a couple of them and did not feel cramped at all. Would I be putting too big of a strain on that 229cc motor? I was suprised to see how small these quads really are, but that was a plus becuase I don't want something really big. Thanks!

I weigh between 220/230 and my Recon does just great. The only thing you have to do is make sure you have enough room to move around on it. I ride in the woods alot, the Recon fits between tree's, under fallen logs, under gates, around mud holes, etc.., etc... Places where I know some of these great big quads would not fit. It's also light enough to move around by hand. I've never been stuck with it. The only reason I have a winch is "just in case". The Recon also has a tight turning radius. You'd be turned around before some quads could get into reverse. Different quads have different purposes and sometimes you don't always need the biggest or fastest.

No way if you like it.
I am about the same weight only smaller in height and the 99 Recon we own has over 400 trouble free hours. Has been kept maintained with fresh oil, air filter, rear diff fluid, and spark plug over the 4 years.
If you need bigger size go with its bigger brother Rancher 2x4 and its still a great deal just as the Recon is in price.

Why get the Recon? There are better quads out there for the same price. You should check out the Suzuki Ozark. It is better than the Recon in every way except for the shifter is a little notchy but its not as bad as everyone says. Its stronger, faster, and it also has better suspension and brakes. My Ozark has 600 miles on it and nothing has gone wrong with it. I would highly recommend you get the Ozark unless you are loyal to Honda and won't buy anything else. Both are great quads and you can't go wrong with either one. Its just with the Ozark you get more for the same price. Just something to think about. Good Luck Shopping

Stay with Honda. Everytime your Suzuki/Kawasaki/ etc. breaks down you will kick yourself for not buying a honda.
Have you considered the Rancher 2x4? If you can afford spending a little more money, why not the Rancher 2x4 for $350 more than the Recon?
