Why don't they make this? There are lots of people, like myself of course that would jump at the chance to have a sportsman with a 5 speed tranny if they would just do it. It makes sense as well. There are 4 Ranchers. 2wd and 4wd and the option of electric shift on both models. Why can't Polaris just slap a manual on an IRS equipped sportsman. They have done this already with smaller engine quads, but I say they should do it for the big one as well. That would take the fear of water and belt snapping out of some would be owners, and would sell pretty good too. A choice of either auto or manual. Take your pick. I think its a good idea, anybody???

Sounds like a good idea to me,I think before its over you will see it on the Sportsman and the Magnum or they will upgrade the expedition to the 500 motor.

Dang you guys are burning the midnight oil aren't you and I thought I was bad, I worked 3 12 hour shifts and then didn't go to bed so I passed out last night just getting up. Andy and Super we need to start meeting on MIRC at late night anyway I think that is a great idea Andy and I don't think it is to far away you know how Polaris is about keeping up with their neighbors and with that new tranny on the Rube I hope we will we see some kind of combo trans for the sportsman, I really don't think you have anything to fear on the belt on the Sportsman as long as you keep it in low when needed, man I went up a hill yesterday that absolutely gave me the pucker I am going to have to get rid of those dang P tires, and get something for rocks and loose pack the P's are great in mud but really suck in steep climbs, I am going to post some pics of some of these hills I am riding I would like to see some of the stuff you guys are riding...

Still yet, somebody needs to make a big bore manual shift with IRS. Nobody does right now, so if there was only one around, you know it would sell. Actually, the one that should think about this is Yamaha. Their grizzly takes hits because of its rear drum brake, limited slip, and air cooling. A manual shift IRS quad might take away some of the attention to some of those issues that plague them in comparisons.
