WHO HAS 2001 RAPTOR STARTER CLUTCH FAILURES??
#1
I WAS JUST TALKING TO A ATV MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE 2001 GEAR SETUP WITH THE PIN BEARINGS LAST LONGER THAN THE 02 MODELS? I WAS JUST WANTING TO KNOW HOW MANY OF THE 01 MODELS FAILED. SO FAR I ONLY KNOW OF ONE THAT FAILED MYSELF AND JUST WANTED TO GET AN IDEA OF THE 01 MODELS. I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE THE 01 GEAR WITH THE BEARING IF THIS IS TO BE CORRECT.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUT.

I have 2 01's bought in June of 01 and neither has failed yet. 1 of the 01s has a new bearing right now because I had the cases apart so I put a new one in while there, it hasn't been rode yet though..

You can add two to your list. My first one went out when it was still under warrenty, I am replacing my second one now. I think that my first one went SOOO fast because I was having alot of problems with the carbs spitting off the intake boots. I fixed that soon after the first bearring. I think this one probably just wore out. I wish I could find my old recipt to see if they replaced the gear that the bearring rides on when they did the first one. Every part of mine is shot now, the gear, the races, the spring, and the sprags. I'll be going with the new one from LA Designs when every I can get it and this rebuilt one goes out.
BTW thanks again wshrdskin for keeping me from making a VERY bad mistake!

Mine went out after about a year and a half. No other damage so I only replaced the one-way. Still running my first set of clutch plates too. The sand monsters are way more prone to clutch problems than bikes on the East Coast.

Mine was purchased in Sept of 2000 and the 1-way went after maybe 8 months. 1-way was replaced by Yamaha and the quad was'nt under warranty. I raised my idle and have had no other problems with my 1-way.
