The only thing that makes sense is that somehow you messed up and don't have one of the float needles seating properly and have dumped a bunch of fuel through the carb, cylinder and into the crankcase. Surprised it didn't hydrolock if this is what happened. From what other members have posted a crankcase that is overfull will do just exactly what you are seeing.
Hmm, you say the oil is coming up through the carb and not the breather tube?

Been There ... Done that .......

If you check the oil level, you will see that it is way to full....... and smells like gasoline .

If that is true .... and I would bet much money that it is ..... you need to change the oil before you ride it .......... Will likely need to clean the air filter also.....

That two hundred feet was the distance that it took to get up to about 40 mph or so

now ... how did the gasoline get into the crankcase ??

Gotta agree with V forcer, had this same problem on a couple 650's I've worked on, the owners overfilled the engine oil when they changed it. This will cause the oil to come up through the crankcase breather tube which vents into the airbox and will be sucked into the engine causing it to smoke. Another thing you may want to check is to make sure the float is shutting off the gas into the carb, if not it could be draining into the cylinder and into the crankcase raising the oil level enuf to cause the same problem of sucking oil into the airbox.
