Head Lights
I have a 2003 400i, seems that every time I go out in to water the head lamps fill up with water? I tried different things but not working. Well, as you guess my lights get wet and blow, I have changed them three times now. I think the water is coming in throw the socket
Any suggestion on/how to keep water out? I have put small holes at the bottem of the lamps to drain the water?
Yes, one would be to stay out of the water but that wouldn't be any fun now would it?

I also have a 400I and also have no problems with water in my headlites. There is a hole on the bottom of the housing but I plugged it as soon as I got home with silicone. If you have holes in your housings I would plug them. Make sure your headlite sockets are twisted in tight. If you still get water I would silicone everything. A new housing is $55 at my dealer. Good luck.

I noticed 2 of my bulbs were burned out a while back. When I went to remove them from the housing I noticed that the plastic keepers on the bulb base were broken. They were loose in the socket and letting water by the o-ring seal. I replaced them with 50w (instead of 27W) lights from the auto parts store and used a little silicone on the new ones.
I put them in the sink to wash all the old water and mud out of the inside, the only water getting in or out was through the hole where the bulb goes in. The rest is sealed. Check your bulb bases and seals.

I have a 2002 500ACT. One of my lights had water in it . Found out that the housing was cracked from hitting one of those trees that jump in front of you. Take out one of the bulbs and blow into the housing you should feel pressure. I fixed mine with some body fill. Crude but effective. Jeepersmitty

Hi Guys
Thanks for the tips, I will try them out. Did any of you hear a rumour about a recall on the speedo cable? The cat is driving great after 1800 on it, in one year. go's throw the mud on stock tires [dunlops]with no problem. When the tires are done I will get me a set of bid treads I don't know what yet. Then some heads will turn even harder It has been raining here on and off for about a month it seems and the water is deep very deep.
