I usually stay out of these, the ole 500 isnt an 03 thats for sure. But ive seen 52 on a gps on my bike. Keep it pinned like that and ill lose a transfer case gasket! lol. But i have to agree with ODB fir sure. But i would like to see that banshee tow logs up over a hill. :]

Olddirtybastard- That is pretty much a joke on that magazine's part with the 44mph thing. A 300 honda will do all of that and more. Also, Dirtwheels said they got 67mph out of a 99 scrambler one time, while I think another magazine had it around 60. Those speeds vary quite a bit, but we all know that most 400+ utility quads will range between 50-65 in actual speed. Too many guys have clocked too many bikes with GPS's, police radar (for those with law enforcement buddies), and side by side runs with cars & trucks. A 500i with 2 passengers ain't doing no 63mph though unless its in free fall.

For what its worth, my brother in law has an 03 500i, and someday I guess we'll see what it will do.

only thing I can think of is that the only time the bike will go that fast is when it is absolutley wide open, flat land, and it can't be over 40 degrees (F). I think that the temp has a lot to do with it. Is doesn't sound like it is going to blow up as much when it is cool out!?! But then again ODB had the best post, I really don't care but I just thought people might want to know because I think that Arctic Cat has a bad reputation for just being a slow workhorse, either way I am not going to do that anymore, I screwed up my front differential (see first major problem post). The cat is going to stay under 50 from now on!

I really don't care myself if they can't outrun a Prairie 650 or not. I love Arctic Cats. They are put together right, and its the only manufacturer out there that offers their flagship model in a 5 speed (save for Suzuki who basically followed suit). If AC offered a diff-lock, thats what I would have. Hopefully they will drop a 5 speed 600+ with differential lock and I will have to go trade in my 660. I've owned 3 yamahas, 1 AC, and one Honda since 1985 (my family has at least). Of the 3, I hate the honda. Its a great quad, and the most reliable machine built, but everyone and their dog worships honda which just means I have to go against the grain.

Whats up with all the CV joints breaking on AC's lately? I've seen a lot of this on the forum. Is this for real or is it just a select few, because I heard a lot of jive about Grizzly front CV's being crap and I've never had any trouble with mine.

i had my 500i out on sat and i was watching the speedo and i was beating it, and it would zip right up to 55 but then it took a while to get it up to 57 or so but i would say that was just about it. and let me tell you that was more than fast enuff on that. i dont think it would be safe at 60 plus mph.when i ride around i hardly get past 3rd gear because im always going over all the obstacles and through the water and mud holes. but hay if i wanted to go fast i would have bought a V force or somthing like that.-------------and as for the axels brakeing i havent had any trouble with mine so far. knock on wood. and i've got 850+miles on mine already. i think it's a great machine and if thay come out with a locking front end in the new ones i'll see if i can order one and if i cant then i might have to buy another one. ARCTIC CAT is #1 and i dont care what all the magazenes say.i've rode with all kinds of quads and and you cant beat the cat in the ruff terrane the snow the mud the water and thats where it counts. who cares if you can power slide or pop wheeles with ease. Try and follow me through the mud hole and rutted out water holes and see where you get. you get stuck thats where. anyways i'll shut up now, besides im all typed out.
