Default question on jetting on a 250

yeah i was wondering about somthing, my 01 250 4x4 is lacking power in the mid range, it has plenty of low and enough top, it seems,( but i think that could be a little better also) but the problem is, in the mid range it doesnt have much power, i mean it will take off and the start to revv to mid range then it will revv slowely up to top and then it will quickly revv out, but between the low and top it has pretty slow accel, and when ever im riding down a ditch or road WOT it will either be revved out or down in low rpms and will stay there, it just is lacking power in the mid range, now could this be fixed by adjusting the pilot screw or what would i have to do. thanks

Default question on jetting on a 250

Can the needle be moved on your carb? Might experiment with that, move it up one notch? Just looked at the fiche, it looks like you can. Take the top off maybe and see what position the needle is on. Id bet its on 5 (bottom) Would be safe to move it one notch up and test. Then another notch and test. It shouldnt be the pilot circut. Someone else can jump in if im wrong?

Default question on jetting on a 250

Im not sure extactly where the carb is located on a 250. But you would need to loosen the clamp on the intake boot and on the boot going to the airbox. Hopefully you can rotate it 90deg to see the 4 screws on top. Remove the 4 screws and careful there is a spring under there. Pull the spring and then gently remove the diaphram. This is also connected to the slide, and inside the slide is the needle. Turn the slide upside down to let the needle drop out. See what clip it is on. If it is at the bottom move it up one. Reassemble and test. If its not better or a bit, remove and put up one more notch and test. This will lean up the mid to my understanding. Hope this help. Ill take pics if you want. Its the same carb, only yours is 31mm and mine is 34mm.

If you moved it down to 4 (1 being the first groove on the top) and it was on 3 try 2. Going to 4 would have richend the mixture i believe. Also check all your carb lines and air filter for blockage. Nothing to lose by trying :]
