Default help jetting a 2001 500auto

I have a 500 Auto that shows to be runnig rich (plug is black). The bike has a K&N filter installed. The factory main jet was a 145, and ran rich then so I got a jet kit (K&N/Dynojet kit) and installed per kit inst a DJ132 with needle set to #4 and fuel mix set to 3 turns still running rich. The kit has 124,126,128,130,132,134,136 jets.To lean out do I install larger or smaller # jet ? or should i change the needle ? Just ordered a supertrapp exhaust, What should i use with the new exhaust ? any help ?

to run it more lean, go to a smaller jet ex. 132 to 130
or go to #3 on the needle ex #1 is the leanest and #6 is the richest, #1 is the top grove.
I put a Dynojet kit in my 2002 500i 4x4 the kit suggested a 132 jet, it was great, but it would go over 35 miles per hour, so I changed 132 for 134 jet. Man what a differance, tons of power...... Dynojet says every atv will be different, no two will be the same.
I hope this helps....Oh did you check the float height (17mm.....0.7in.)

If you change to the K&N filter this ads more air so why is the jet size smaller than the factory 145 not bigger

The Dynojet Kit Jets do not match the Keihin carb jets, and the Dynojet Jet Needle is also a different size.
Now with the K&N air filter does have a little more air flow the the stock fliter but not that much.
When you get your supertrapp exhaust the engine will breath alot better and you will have to use a bigger jet ( I looked it up) DJ136.
I hope this helps

Thanks, the numbers just don't add up. The 145 has a larger hole (mesured with drill bit) than the DJ132 ? Wish the supertrapp was here so a can start tunning ordered 26" mudLites also !!!!!!!
