Fully independant front and rear
#1
I have a question for you owners of the 03 400's and 500's. I've been told that there may be an issue of rollover when side hilling due to the fully independant front and rear suspension. And that a straight axel would be better in this particular instance of side hilling. Set me straight in my thinking.

i think the rollover factor with ind. susp. is mostly to do with the shock settings. you can stiffen up the ac shocks to where it feels like a straight axle but i run mine in the 3rd setting (out of 5). the straight axle rigs are probly more stable on hillsides. also the ac's are fairly tall so you do have to do some leaning.

I think rollover while side-hilling (off camber) is an issue on any vehicle. It all depends upon the center of gravity of the vehicle, not what type of suspension you have. I have an 02 400, and I haven't rolled her yet!

I think its just as stable as any other quad. and i too have my shocks set on the therd setting and i've gone everywhere my freinds have gone and i think the more i ride the braver i get.i've only rolled my quad once and it was rider error that caused it. my quad is as sure footed as a cat. PS. check out my page it has a pic of me riding across the side of a bank on this slide area.it was worse coming back, but we made it.

the problem is how stiff the shocks are
if you go to a salvage yard or somthin pick up some ACT supension shocks to put on the rear and it also works good to swap out the front
I have an 500I and did this and i can crawl any rock or go up any hill at any angle with no problems
